Why MPs rejected a Bill reintroducing free milk to school children
Members of parliament have today rejected a Bill that was seeking to reintroduce the provision of free milk to school going children under a multi-billion shilling State-funded scheme.
The Basic Education (Amendment) Bill, 2020 which was sponsored by Nominated Senator Beatrice Kwamboka was seeking to compel the national government and the county governments to provide milk to learners enrolled in pre-primary and primary schools.
However, the MPs rejected the bill citing insufficient funding from the treasury.
